WELCOME
We provide a brief historial background in order to ensure that you get the most from our mountain tour.Kentish on the Juan de Bolas Mountain is the highest peak in the parish of St Catherine, at approximately 1000m above sea level. Visiting Kentish is in many ways engaging with the past. During colonial period, the mountain community successfully served as an important messaging post and therefore, have much history to share.
HISTORY
Kentish is situated at the apex and overlooks a considerable number of communities below. Interestingly, some of these communities have produced embassador who have significantly impacted the Caribbean and the World. International contributors include: Juan de Bolas (first Maroon chief) and more recently former Prime Minister of Jamaica (Bruce Golding) and many other historical figures from there.This historic mountain is named after the first Chief of the Jamaican maroons (Juan de-Bolas) who established a community and lived among the people there.

An Over View
From Kentish, one can see as far as Kingston Harbour and Old Harbour Bay, much of neighbouring parish of Clarendon, the Worthy Park Sugar Estate and several other communities such as Point Hill and Lluidas Vale.

This event was started by a small farming cooperative group from Kentish. Our mission is to offer visitors high quality experiences that respect the local community and its culture while supporting the locals along the way!

A "Mountain Adventure Hour Trek" for inspiration and peace. A refreshing mountain walk, experiencing the Beauty, History and People of Juan de Bolas Mountain, St Catherine, Jamaica.
Escape to the mountain where it's quite, fresh air rejuvenates, and spelbounding blue skies.This trekking adventure takes place among nature, (1000m elevation) on the Juan de Bolas Mountain - the perfect escape and the chance to reconnect with what truly grounds us.
Our guided hiking/trail walk tour explores the rolling hills and the charming mountain communities, full of historic character with a warm welcome and good food to sustain you on your journey. You will discover a hidden world that only a few have seen before, savouring panoramic views that are guaranteed to make your trek, completely and utterly worth it!
Our 2 to 4 miles escorted Juan de Bolas Mountain tour offers options for terrain and distance for walk with the choice of main road or farm land excursion. On the road you are introduced to local facilities and the community's everyday life. Basking in the joy of the great outdoors and becoming acquainted with a variety of farm produce - woodlands and farmlands option.

After your trail walk adventure, there's nothing quite like soothing your muscles and taking a break. That's the beauty of an organised hiking trip, everything's taken care of - from a hearty meal ready to a local spa (feet massage) treatment.
Our Juan de Bolas Mountain trek caters for all ages. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Options for terrain and distance for walk may be selected with the choice of main road or farm land excursion.
The trek allows you to get closer to the heart of the community. You may choose to walk along main roads, taking in some of the most spectacular scenery to behold and be introduced to local facilities and the community's everyday life. Alternatively you may opt for the woods and farmlands, basking in the joy of the great outdoors, becoming acquainted with a variety of farm produce - having fun in the midst of supporting local partnerships.

Your Bus Tour experience begins with your pick-up from "Kentish Celebrating Countryside" reception grounds in Kentish for your tour experience around the cool mountain of St. Catherine and onto the Worthy Park Estate.
On arrival at Worthy Park Estate you will be greeted by the friendly staff at the Visitor Center, and after a short orientation, begin your exploration of the facility, immersing your senses in the sights, sounds, flavors, aromas and craft of rum making.
At the end of your Worthy Park experience,enjoy a comfortable drive back to Kentish for food and entertainment with the locals and other day - trippers.

We'll be celebrating contribution made by local farmers - helping to build communities free from hunger. Farmers in Kentish and across Juan de Bolas Mountain are working hard to increase food security and incomes in their households and communities.
This Agri - tour is an occasion to identify and taste popular and favourite farm produce and learn the importance of various farming methods. It also creates a space for coming together, basking in the joy of the great outdoors and having fun in the midst of supporting local farmers and community partnerships.
This is the perfect time to get involved: either as a producer, a customer or a visitor wanting to see where countryside food come from or how you could become involved.The farms are inviting, intended to be gathering places for farmers to connect with other producers and customers and for visitors to share. Visit us in Kentish for exploring all possibilities being offered.
